A fuel tanker offloading gasoline at a Pelham Manor service station erupted in a fireball before dawn. The explosion destroyed a truck and a snack shop but luckily caused no injuries. Firefighters from several towns kept the resulting fire from spreading to the station's stored gasoline.
The Oil City station is adjacent to one shopping center and across Pelham Parkway from another. Firefighters from Yonkers and White Plains helped the village department keep storage tanks cool while battling the truck fire. Investigators don't know the cause of the fire.
