The World Press Freedom Index compares the levels enjoyed by news media in 180 countries and territories.

Press-bashing has become a reflex among totalitarian dictators, and it’s becoming an ugly crutch.

The definition of press freedom used by RSF and its panel of experts to compile the Index is the following:

While traveling to Asia I had the pleasure of listening to the following complete work of their album Steely Dan for the first time.

It was many years ago, but long after Shanghai was a small fishing village. But thanks to its location by the southern section of the Yangtze River, it has since grown to be the biggest city in China, and one of the largest in the entire world.

The Cuban flag was flown back in 1849 by its Venezuelan born designer Narciso López .

He was an adventurer and Spanish Army general who is best known for his expeditions aimed at liberating Cuba from Spanish rule in the 1850s. His troops carried a flag that López held, which later became the flag of Cuba

The three blue bands represent the three military districts of colonial Cuba central, occidental, and oriental. The two white stripes describe the purity of the independence ideal.

More than 11,000 WGA members of the Writers Guild of America are on strike today for the first time in 15 over a decade.

This action will affect our favorite TV shows after, WGA members voted 98 percent in favor of going on strike if no new deal is reached with studios over reduced job opportunities and the loss of some sources of income due to an industry shift toward streaming services.

Whenever we warn another human being to watch their step we should remind them of our current footprint.

It’s not healthy to spend too much time concentrating on our needs, but we can derive hope from understanding that kindness is closer than we imagine.

Of all the isms, the ones I proudly embrace are being able to speak a couple of languages and multiculturalism.

The two primary theories of multiculturalism integrated into a single society are commonly used to describe them as the “melting pot” and the “salad bowl”.

Studying hundreds of older patients, researchers in Germany found that those who reported using a couple of languages daily from a young age scored higher on tests of learning, memory, language, and self-control than patients who spoke only one language.

Protecting our US borders from illegal movement of weapons, contraband, and people, while promoting lawful entry traffic is a big job.

Following four years of deaths, destruction, and thousands of lies from a presidential empty suit, the press is renewed.

POTUS Joe Biden’s 6 million grassroots donors who powered his historic agenda in 2020 are waiting for him and the VP to finish the job and build on America’s progress.

They say the hamburger came from Hamburg, Germany but was invented in New York City during the 1820s. The Big Apple loves them.

The burger was named after a North Sea port and sold as street food to German sailors along the docks around Chambers Street.
