For our children, most of whom we have had the pleasure of welcoming in our classes over the years, a well-deserved and our most sincere congratulations.

That bell has rung to end the final round of your bout with higher education. You may be tired, and bruised, but you are still standing. You did it, Kudos!!!

As colleges and universities hold ceremonies across this great nation, let's reflect on students at all institutions of higher learning along the eastern seaboard, the west coast, and Midwest, who have shared knowledge and gained wisdom.

Some say there's a smoking gun inside his tax returns, while others claim The Donald is hiding behind the NRA's cloud of smoke. Meanwhile, the rich grow richer and another armed man is shot near The While House, as senseless shootings appear on the rise nationwide.

HAPPY 520 CUBA

520 is the abbreviation for "I Love You" in net and SMS use in the Chinese-speaking world. 520 CUBA, my birthplace. It is an example of extensive use of numerical digits for their similar pronunciation of daily expressions in Chinese. In this case, 5 means "I", 2 means "love", 0 means "you".

It is also Cuban Independence Day, but everyone knows Cuba is still not able to make that claim. Cuba was recovering from a war with Spain and endured a period of American military occupation. While this date is a celebration, Cuba was hamstrung by the cruel irony of independence without freedom.

RIP Morley Safer

Another 60 Minutes Man has died. 84-year-old Morley Safer, who was a TV news icon and a pillar of broadcast journalism as a member of CBS' 60 Minutes team for almost five decades.

I had the pleasure of meeting him at The Museum of Broadcasting years ago while serving as NY Bureau Chief at The Associated Press. He was funny, charming and had an eye for classic beauty. May he rest is peace.

Fox TV's much promoted and long awaited interview between The Donald and Megyn was broadcast last night and instead of the much-anticipated hardball session, it appeared to be a series of softballs and we wonder if some were previously approved questions.

The on again and off again feud between the two may have just been about posturing and just to attract ratings if last night's interview was a good indicator. Is this going to be classified as an infomercial, or a scam alert?

While companies are struggling to diversify their ranks, it now appears the feds have the same problem. Diversity without inclusion damages a company’s performance. The way to build inclusion is to alter how we all respond to people who seem different.

Being around folks who are different makes us more creative, extra diligent and harder-working.

Forgotten Revolution?

The Peoples Republic of China keeps trying to forget its Cultural Revolution. Today marks the 50th anniversary of the day Mao Zedong issued the order that began China's Cultural Revolution.

This was a ten-year period of violence and chaos when more than 1 million who were perceived to be counterrevolutionaries were imprisoned, killed or committed suicide and the economy was left in a shambles.

HURRICANES

The hurricane season begins 6/1/16 and ends 11/30/16. Is your mitigation and if that fails, a disaster response strategy in place? If you've experienced a hurricane, then you know why I am posting this.

Hurricane season officially starts next week for storms that form in the eastern Pacific Ocean, but more notably, it's also the start of Hurricane Awareness Week. The National Weather Service says is the best time to prepare for a potential hit from a tropical storm or hurricane.
