The NYC Department of Parks & Recreation will conduct an aerial survey of the deer population over various parks in The Bronx until Saturday, March 1 between the hours of 6PM-1AM.

The parks include Pelham Bay, Van Cortlandt, and Riverdale. The survey will be conducted by a single-engine aircraft utilizing infrared imaging to measure the temperature difference between the deer and the surrounding environment.

Back in The Bronx through the eyes and personal stories of writer Arlene Alda, who today was interviewed by her famous husband, the actor Alan Alda. The former MASH star is a graduate of Fordham University and now serves as a member of SUNY's faculty.

LONG ISLAND COLLEGE HOSPITAL AGREEMENT

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo, SUNY Chairman H. Carl McCall, and Mayor Bill de Blasio today announced a settlement agreement with the parties involved in the Long Island College Hospital litigation that ends all pending and future litigation and allows SUNY to exit operations of the facility no later than May 2014 without interference, while providing an agreed upon process to deliver a viable long-term health care solution for the community.

STREET DANGERS?

A NYC Dog has died after being electrocuted by a live wire on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Bella the pit bull terrier mix was rushed to animal hospital after being shocked near her Clinton St. home, but efforts to save her were not successful.

The 11-year-old dog was apparently shocked by voltage on Clinton St. between Delancey St. and Rivington St. She was electrocuted just steps from her Lower East Side apartment building Saturday night, according to official accounts.

Due to warmer temperatures expected in the NYC area through the upcoming weekend, NYC Department of Buildings is reminding all property owners to safely remove ice and snow from roofs, overhangs and awnings before it falls and injures someone while it melts.

Water from melting snow that collects on roofs can also present a threat to the structural integrity of a building if the accumulated weight becomes too great.
