IT'S SANFORD, NOT STANFORD

Just because a handpicked Sanford, Florida jury acquitted George Zimmerman does not mean he's seen his last courtroom. There are other legal possibilities. One could see Zimmerman in another defendant role. Sanford is located in Seminole County, Florida.
The county was named after native Americans, but only has 127 Indian residents, which may not reflect the same level of civility in America.

In at least one, Zimmerman might justifiably be nervous about his chances. But he may go three-for-three. 29-year old Zimmerman was found not guilty in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, an unarmed black teenager. The case that sparked a national debate on race and gun laws.

Zimmerman, who was a want to be cop attended community college and was shy of an associate's degree in criminal justice. He was kicked out of school because he allegedly posed a danger to the campus.

History indicates that attempting to live a normal life after a major trial could be difficult, even for those acquitted of headline-making crimes. Casey Anthony, the Orlando Florida mother acquitted in 2011 of killing her 3-year-old daughter Caylee, remains hidden and unemployed while attorneys fight civil lawsuits seeking monetary damages from her.

Former football super star O.J. Simpson was acquitted in 1995 of killing his wife and an acquaintance, but his life fell apart. He lost a $33 million wrongful death civil suit in 1997, moved to Florida where he was arrested and eventually sent to prison in 2008 for up to 33 years for robbery and kidnapping.

Zimmerman will never be the same. He apparently goes out wearing disguises, along with a bullet proof vest because of threats to his life. Is this outcome an acceptable level of equal justice for all?
