Interestingly, everything changed on January 6, 2021. An insurrection, funded by US President Donald Trump, stormed the US Capitol in Washington during the congressional certification of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris's win, resulting in five deaths and prompting the evacuation of lawmakers and Vice President Mike Pence. Trump later pardoned all those convicted of their crimes. https://www.onthisday.com/events/january/6
Nearly 8 million reportedly participated in the No Kings demonstrations. All these folks were at the right place and certainly at the right time. Truth walked straight into power —not socially —and refused to bow. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dvgZkm1xWPE
These lyrics refer to revolutions, about kings, queens, emperors, and other rulers who fall from high places after revolutions. The French Revolution, the Chinese Revolution, the Russian Revolution, and the British and US Civil Wars. Each revolution overthrew a powerful central government, with a powerful head of state in a violent and bloody fashion (think "heads on a silver plate"). These lyrics are telling their stories from the point of view of the fallen leader, in a very poetic way, but the message is essentially "Oh, who would ever want to be king?" Because revolutions have occurred over and over in history, and they will continue to occur, but such is the story of life and of humanity.
In heated New York mayoral debate, the three candidates talked Gaza, working with President Trump, and marijuana.
Polls largely underestimated Zohran Mamdani’s support in the Democratic primary for the New York City mayor, illustrating once again just how difficult it can be to accurately poll primary elections. While most polls did not show Mamdani leading in the first round of balloting, they did appear to show him gaining support in the final weeks of the campaign. He ultimately won with more than 56 percent of the vote after ranked-choice tabulation.
Do not allow anyone to divide us. We are one nation, under God, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all. Either way we see it, the phrase "one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all" from the Pledge of Allegiance means that the United States is a unified country that cannot be broken apart, is united under the divine guidance of God, and is founded on the principles of freedom for its people and fair, just treatment for every citizen under the law. The phrase was finalized in 1954 to distinguish the U.S. from the atheist communism of what is now Russia.
America is celebrating California Governor Gavin Newsom's recent political transformation and fiery speech confronting Donald Trump. Newsom has reached a critical turning point. An EFF IT moment, where he abandons traditional political caution and directly challenges Trump’s tactics with bold, aggressive countermeasures. Newsom gave an 8-minute speech filled with controlled anger and escalating rhetorical punches, likened to metaphorically hitting Trump with "Mike Tyson's law", that “everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face.”
The speech as the first truly adult and powerful Democratic response to Trump’s behavior. Newsom is evolving from a mild political figure to a forceful leader—the “Resistance,” the embodiment of the Democratic Party’s fight to preserve democracy. His most dramatic move was threatening to withhold California’s $692 billion in federal tax contributions, which is an economic "civil war game-ender." Governor Newsom is stepping into a national leadership role at a crucial time, potentially becoming a central figure in defending American democracy.

An all-points bulletin, also known as an APB, is a message sent from one law enforcement agency to another, typically to alert officers to a wanted suspect or vehicle in connection with a crime. APBs can also be used to instruct officers to arrest a specific suspect. The technology used to send APBs has evolved, from teletype and radio to computerized bulletin boards and the Internet.
There was a time when immigrants were welcome here in America. This is considered to be the land of the free and home of the brave.
Climate change is inadmissible in Republican political thought, such as it is, yet the Trump Administration creates new icebergs every week, hoping to distract voters. As menacing as a GOP-Berg may appear, there is far more hidden below the surface-- out of sight-- from voters.
Improbable remarks from two people not famous for honest discourse helped bring this into focus as the US Senate prepares to debate and vote on what Donald Trump, in his real estate salesman mindset, calls a Big Beautiful Budget Bill. Will a loss here mirror the Titanic's ill-fated maiden voyage?
