Strange Silence From The Bushes

Submitted by ub on

This question begs to be answered... Why have The Bushes remained silent in Florida? There have been loud and nasty accusations back and forth between the GOP front runners. But there has been little heard from Jeb, George Jr, or Papa George Bush.

Jeb Bush, Florida’s popular former governor and the heir apparent to the nation’s Bush political dynasty, has not added his considerable voice to the GOP party establishment.

YOUR HONORS: PLACE YOUR BET

Submitted by ub on

Boston Mayor Thomas Menino and NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg say they have made a gentleman's bet on the outcome of Sunday's Super Bowl game.

When New York Giants win, a New York City family will receive a free trip to Boston, complete with a stay at the Ritz Carlton, dinner at Legal Sea Foods and box seats to a Bruins or Celtics game.

FUTURE VISION FOR CABLE

Submitted by ub on

Here is a story you probably wont see on News 12. Cablevision, that longtime Bronx cable monopoly is beginning to feel the pressure. After many years of massive profits, some of their technicians are asking the cable giant to share.

Once a majority of techs sign up, the union will petition the federal government for a union vote. The union will go to the National Labor Relations Board and request for an election of their rank and file.

"I've just planted a garden on it" boasts Rat Island owner Alex Schibli. He is the person who outbid everyone at a public auction on City Island and purchased the two and a half acre piece of rock, which is located on Long Island Sound.

Schibli tells City Island Images he now has a wealthy Swiss investor and that the two have formed a mussel partnership. We asked him what they plan to do with the island and his responded "lots of things".

Home Values Dropping

US Housing prices are falling deeper than expected, while consumer confidence sours, highlighting the hurdles still facing the economic recovery.

Consecutively home prices have fallen in most cities measured, leaving average prices at levels seen in mid-2003. This was the third month in a row that average prices had fallen.

The S&P/Case-Shiller composite index of single-family home prices in 20 metropolitan areas declined 0.7 percent on a seasonally adjusted basis, a bigger drop than the 0.5 percent which was expected.

To Tweet, or Not To Tweet... Is That Your Question?

Submitted by ub on

If you are determined to use Twitter and plan to make a joke about illegal activity,
you may wish to seriously think it over. According to a published report, some tourists have been detained and, or denied entry into U.S.A. Recently, a case involved stupid and tasteless jokes about digging up Marilyn Monroe.

US Homeland Security and FBI are monitoring social media, like Twitter and Facebook. The authorities are detaining people based on a poor judgement, or bad joke.

A word to the wise and no more than 140 characters may be sufficient.
