Evil Ways and Means

Submitted by ub on Mon, 08/31/2020 - 09:50

A stereotypical image of an evil man and a purposely distinctive visage of villains, initially from the stage plays of the 1880s.

This has been the heaviest week for the bad news I can recall and since I closely follow journalism developments, I like others agree that the news dam is breaking and some Americans fear that as Election Day grows near, that the next few months may become progressively crazier, including more blood, sweat, and tears.

The NRA will go away if the New York State Attorney General has anything to say. Her lawsuit sets up a legal confrontation that could take years to play out and will leave the 148-year-old #NRA long the nation’s most influential gun-rights lobby but recently hobbled by financial woes and infighting in question.

The chief executive of the NRA allegedly engaged in a decades-long pattern of fraud by draining $64 million from the nonprofit in just three years, according to a lawsuit filed by NY AG Letitia James. She is calling for the NRA's dissolution.

Global companies, schools, and other organizations had pretty much the same story to tell: Everything was going great until the beginning of the new decade when the world began locking down to stem the COVID-19 outbreak and demands fell off a cliff.

However, we must not return to greed, inequities, depletions, disconnection, confusion, hoarding rage, and hate to name a few.

Beautiful NYC Weather

A stay at home order was lifted and The Big Apple has officially opened. I LOVE NY whenever the weather warms up and public beaches are also free. Nearby my City Island home is Orchard Beach. I asked my wife to come with me, but she was not in the mood. This is the part when I’m supposed to say that I missed her, but do you want real honesty or fake news? Everything looks to be well on its way to recovering nicely and it also feels just fine. Keep cool, fit and healthy 😎

When someone asks how are you doing, the real question is are they really expressing goodwill and concerned about our well being?

Here is a series of questions you may consider asking if you are an inquiring mind who wants to know.

How are you taking care of yourself today?

What part of your shelter-in-place residence have you come to appreciate the most?

What surprising thing have you been stocking up on (that isn’t toilet paper)?

What’s a story from a book, a movie, an article, a conversation – that you’ve been gripped by recently?

Mothers Day Countdown

MoM is the most important person in your entire life and don’t you ever forget it, so cherish her always and tell her how you feel.

The connection between mother and child is one of the most complex and intense relationships in the entire universe.

One minute you're calling your mom for advice, and the next you're texting "MYOB!" to her in all caps.

Truth be told, she was your first friend—and, quite possibly, the best friend you'll ever have.
