Friends of Pelham Bay Park member Deborah Wye, a retired MoMA curator, will explore the history of the landmark Orchard Beach Pavilion and its distinctive architecture. She will describe its origins as a Works Progress Administration (WPA) project lead by Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia and Parks Commissioner Robert Moses, and its possible renovation for future generations.

While walking through Central Park during this cold spell, I came across a celebrity. his name is Pale Male, a red-tailed hawk who manages to enjoy urbanized New York City.
This well known predator has been stalking Manhattan for years. But instead of calling the police, New Yorkers roll out the welcome mat by wishing him the best of luck.
Meet Pale Male — a red-tailed hawk who chose life in the Big Apple and founded a hawk dynasty on the ledge of a swanky high-rise overlooking Central Park. More on my Facebook Page:

NY Giants were able to upset The Greenbay Packers, 37-20, to advance to N.F.C. Championship Game
Star quarterback Eli Manning threw three touchdown passes on Sunday and that unbelievable Giants defense hounded Aaron Rodgers and the top-seeded Packers right out of the playoffs with a 37-20 victory at Lambeau Field. GO BLUE.
Photographed is possibly the youngest male fan of the NY Giants. My grandson, Parker Charlie Yusta, who is one month old and was impressed by the Giants star power. He was watching the game with his loving family, minus a loving grandfather, who misses him very much.
GUATEMALA RATIFIES UN-BACKED TREATY BANNING NUCLEAR TESTS
Guatemala has ratified the United Nations-backed international treaty banning nuclear tests, bringing the number of State parties to 156.
Out of a total listed number of 195 States, 182 have so far signed the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT).
