A Better Expert Second Opinion

Submitted by ub on

The other day when I was considering buying a used car, I needed an expert opinion from an auto mechanic.
I did what any City Islander would probably do - I drove over to the only garage on the island and asked the mechanic to take a quick look at the vehicle. What a mistake i made. He immediately refused, started yelling, and flailing his arms.

Later, an old friend explained that it is in his DNA to act up like this. He said his father was even a worse grouch than his son is. So, I accepted this explanation and went on the Internet to search for a AAA garage.

WikiLeaks / Pentagon Papers = Nixon / Obama. Four decades ago, a young analyst leaked a top-secret study packed with damaging revelations about America's conduct. Does any of this this sound familiar?

That study, dubbed the Pentagon Papers, has been released in complete form. It's a touchstone for whistleblowers everywhere and just the sort of leak that gives presidents fits to this day.

The documents show that almost from the opening lines, it was apparent that the authors knew they had produced a hornet's nest.

JFK Turtles Had One Thing on Their Mind

JFK Departing airlines had to delay their flights as a result of a turtle mating ritual. These turtles had one thing on their mind as their sex-crazed shells crawled across the runway at Kennedy Airport this morning and across the steamy hot tarmac heading for their seasonal breeding grounds.

According to FAA officials, runway 4L was shut down starting about 9:30 a.m. Port Authority workers were still working an hour later to move the slowpokes to safer ground.

They things they do for love-making.

A Bronx HS football player was stabbed to death during a parking lot rumble, just hours after graduating.

NYPD says Isayah Muller, who was a 19-year-old running back for Truman High School, had just left his commencement at Lehman College around 4 p.m. to head to a celebratory dinner with his family here on City Island.
