These are the Greatest Republicans of the modern American era... The first was Ike, and the second and third were Ron and George.
That's all folks... Before the GOP turned into the political swamp it has come to be, let's take time to look at some of the playbooks of the first one of only 5 other presidents to have never held political office before being president: Some turned out to be horrible and one made the list of the worst president ever to hold office, be criminally indicted and found guilty of fraud and rape.
Number one - Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces in Europe, Chief of Staff of the US Army, President of Columbia University, and Supreme Commander of NATO. And this was before becoming President of the United States of America.
Perhaps his greatest achievement was planning and supervising two of World War II's most consequential military campaigns: Operation Torch in the North Africa campaign in 1942–1943 and the invasion of Normandy in 1944. Or simplistically put, he saved the world from tyrannical dictators.
He surrounded himself with brilliant people like George Marshall, who helped rebuild 16 European countries.
One of the Eisenhower Administration's greatest accomplishments was creating an Interstate Highway System. Ike also created the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare (today known as the Dept. of Health and Human Services and the Dept. of Education created in 1979) into a cabinet-level position.
The last two American states were admitted to the Union during Eisenhower’s presidency and he appointed five justices to the Supreme Court, including Earl Warren as Chief Justice in 1953.
His most famous speech warned us of the "industrial military complex."
The two others Ronald Reagan and George HW Bush were personally responsible for dividing the Soviet Union, also known as the axis of evil.
But unfortunately all three are now dead and gone but not forgotten. These men were real patriots who fought against our enemies, not sold out to them for riches or fame.
