Consumer Reports and The Markup have teamed up to investigate Facebook’s collection of consumers’ personal information.
Using a panel of 709 volunteers who shared archives of their Facebook data, we found that a total of 186,892 companies sent data about them to the social network – and that every Facebook user is likely monitored by thousands of companies.
It’s why CR is calling on the Federal Trade Commission to move forward with setting strong, clear rules limiting what companies are allowed to do with our most sensitive personal data. Learn more and join our effort to rein in data sharing.
