EYE ON JAZZ

Submitted by ub on

American jazz is generally considered our national musical art form, with roots in African American communities, particularly in New Orleans.

The port city was a blend of Creole language, Caribbean culture, and African traditions, peppered with European influences.

It's a blend of various musical traditions, including blues, ragtime, European harmony, and African rhythmic elements. JAZZ is known for its improvisation, swing, and complex chords.

Jazz emerged from African American communities in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, primarily in New Orleans.
