David was a reporter’s newsman a great guy and a fabulous colleague. Another colleague said it best. ‘Man, I really love this guy… the time he spent in the network newsroom was one of my favorite memories of him. He was so humble , smart and kind. I told my son “ you couldn’t meet a guy who was nicer.’ - Jimi Cook.
I have devoted my professional career to startups and turnaround projects, and I write this I prepare to begin a new chapter in my life. Meanwhile, I learned that my old amigo and media-academic colleague has sadly passed away.
Television journalist and educator David Diaz, who devoted decades covering New York City and the Tri-State Area, died at the age of 82. TV News viewers in New York, were lucky that he shared his remarkable abilities, generous spirit, and infectious smile with viewers.

David Diaz was a damn good journalist and amazing educator, We both served together at NBC. I was his producer in DC covering the old GOP. David went on to report at other media powerhouses, while I became a news executive in broadcast and cable TV.
David and I labored together in our nation’s Capital, and at City University of New York, where he featured me as a guest lecturer at one of his political science classes. We also enjoyed social gatherings.
Rest in force David your days on earth truly mattered. https://youtu.be/eI2mWsOHlfQ?si=FlFolyIm-YSxXhTJ
