As Olivia, Parker and children of all ages countdown the days until Halloween 🎃 the holiday has evolved over the years from the ancient Celtic holiday of Samhain, and throughout centuries Halloween transitioned from a pagan ritual to a special day of parties, costumes, jack-o-lanterns and trick-or-treating for kids and adults everywhere.
The history of Halloween is spookier than you may actually know. It involves witches, ghosts, and costumes which play a part in Halloween's history.
Now that October 31 is almost here... No, not pumpkin spice lattes though we're glad about those. Halloween has once again crept upon us, and there’s so much to look forward to, from brainstorming about costumes to carving jack-o'-lanterns with the children and, of course, eating unfathomable amounts of treats, candy, and peanut butter or a chocolate bar.
No matter how old you are or how many years you've been around, this holiday never gets old. The littlest ones get a chance to dress up and go trick-or-treating, and parents have an excuse to sip on a boozy Halloween cocktail or two or just say BOOoo!
But in the midst of the parties and games and sugar rushes, have you ever stopped to wonder what the history of Halloween even is in the first place?
We’ve already seen, heard and shed plenty of blood sweat and tears this year. What about a ladybug that everyone loves and no one fears? This is my 3-year-old Olivia dreaming about flying coast to coast to visit grandpa this year. Also my 8-year-old and only grandson Parker, who is dressed as Bendy.
