International Day for Children

Submitted by ub on

All over the world, an increasing number of children are engaged in paid or unpaid domestic work, often in dangerous conditions.

Children's Day is a commemorative date celebrated annually in honor of children, whose date of observance varies by country. In 1925, International Children's Day was first proclaimed in Geneva during the World Conference on Child Welfare.

An International Day for Protection of Children is celebrated on 1 June every year. The day is marked to honor these young people globally for their right to survival, to develop, protection from harmful influences, and to participate in family, cultural and social life. It is, however, observed only in a few countries across the globe.

Texas schools were supposed to be protected by a 2018 law following a mass shooting there. They aren’t. https://www.texastribune.org/2022/05/26/texas-uvalde-shooting-harden-sc…;

So far, there is little evidence that school safety plans reduce the harm done by gun violence. Why have local police stopped cooperating with one another amid shifting stories about what happened at the school last week?
