LOVING SUMMER

Submitted by ub on

Thirteen years ago today, during a Summer of Love, I was lucky and fortunate enough to marry my young, smart and beautiful wife.

Years earlier, I had seen her playing music at an Asian restaurant on Broadway in New York City. It was love at first sight. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jAIc7_hre3k&list=RDjAIc7_hre3k&start_ra…

Who could have imagined that an island man from Havana and a big-city woman from Shanghai would meet near the crossroads of the world, fall in love, and begin a journey together, living happily ever after, through better and worse, until death do us part?

The distance between Havana and Shanghai is considerable, and our two cultures are worlds apart. Yet somehow, our paths crossed in The Big Apple, proving that anything can happen after a Summer of Love.

Today, thirteen years later, we are grateful for the love, laughter, adventures, challenges, and memories we have shared, and for the life we continue to build together forever..

We also want to thank our family members who traveled from near and far to witness our wedding, and all the friends who came from California, Florida, Maryland, Ohio, and elsewhere to celebrate with us. My colleagues, from WPLG, Miami Radio, NBC, Univision, Telemundo, the Voice of America, and Associated Press were there to witness our wedding. Your presence made that day even more meaningful, and we will always cherish it.

Here’s to thirteen years of love, and to all the years still ahead. ❤️ from the two of us to the rest of you, love always.
