Lunar Eclipse Super Moon

Submitted by ub on

The very first total Lunar eclipse in a couple of years happens to coincide with a #Supermoon tomorrow for a cosmic show.

The definition of a #Supermoon varies, but it's generally defined by how close the moon approaches the Earth. May's supermoon will also be the first total lunar eclipse since January 2019.

This super “Blood” moon will be visible Wednesday across the Pacific offering the best viewing as well as the western half of North America, bottom of South America, and eastern Asia.

Better peek fast because the total eclipse will last a quarter of an hour as planet Earth passes directly between the moon and the sun. The really big show will last five hours, as Earth’s shadow gradually covers the moon, then starts to ebb.

The blood reddish-orange color is the result of all the sunrises and sunsets in Earth’s atmosphere projected onto the surface of the eclipsed moon.
