Millions To Join “No Kings Day” Peaceful Protests Worldwide Tomorrow.
Millions of concerned citizens are expected to participate in demonstrations across the country and in dozens of nations on Saturday, Oct. 18, as part of an event called “No Kings Day.”
Organizers say the protests are intended to promote democratic values and oppose what they describe as authoritarian tendencies in government leadership.
These demonstrations are taking place amid a prolonged government shutdown and heightened political tension in Washington, DC.
According to event organizers, thousands of gatherings are planned across all 50 states, with participation from groups including the American Civil Liberties Union, American Federation of Teachers, Human Rights Campaign, Indivisible, and MoveOn.
“Together, millions will send a clear and unmistakable message: we are a nation of equals, and our country will not be ruled by fear or force,” organizers emphasized in a statement.
Republican lawmakers have sharply criticized the demonstrations, calling them divisive. Some described the event as “a hate America rally” and accused organizers of politicizing public frustration over the shutdown.
The protests come as House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) faces growing pressure over the government impasse. Johnson recently canceled a third consecutive week of House votes, while negotiations over funding and federal operations remain stalled.
In response, “No Kings Day” organizers argue that public frustration is directed not at the country itself, but at what they view as undemocratic behavior from political leaders. “Blaming millions of Americans who are fed up with the government’s dysfunction only shows the depth of the crisis in Washington,” their statement said.
The Department of Homeland Security and local officials in several cities have said they are coordinating with event organizers to ensure public safety at every one of the thousands of demonstrations scheduled for today. Please pray for the protestors in our nation.
