Overpopulation and Overconsumption

Submitted by ub on

Do you know which are the top ten most populated cities in the whole wide world and in order of overpopulation on earth?

Reportedly, the world hit the eight billion population mark. Based on extensive research, it has been concluded that more than half of the world’s population lives in cities across the globe.

Overpopulation is a phenomenon in which the number of people surpasses a specific threshold, such as the maximum carrying capacity of a place. As the human population has been inclined towards a rapid increase over time, overpopulation is singled out and seen by many as a threat that hinders global development. Regardless, is it merely the issue of overpopulation, and how many people the Earth can hold? Despite overpopulation being a substantial concern itself, there is another issue that highly revolves around it: overconsumption.

Overconsumption is partly caused by the increasing population in many areas around the world. Larger populations require more food, water, and energy, and consequently tax the earth's ability to replace used resources. Overpopulation depletes wildlife to dangerously low levels.

Because certain regions are more populated than others, many of the most populated cities are either within the same country or continent. This article lists 10 of the most populated cities in the world.

This may be a slow process – if we reach 10.4 billion, the UN expects the population to remain at this level for – but eventually, after this, the population is projected to decline.

Human overpopulation is among the most pressing environmental issues, silently aggravating the forces behind global warming, environmental pollution, habitat loss, the sixth mass extinction, intensive farming practices, and the consumption of finite natural resources, such as freshwater, arable land, and fossil fuels, ... Etc.

I live in New York City and had the learning experience to have traveled to Tokyo, Yokohama, Kamakura. and other Japanese cities. Shanghai, Ningbo, Hangzhou, as well as other Chinese cities. Last, and thankfully for my gut feeling, In 2011, I was invited to lecture at Whistling Woods International https://www.whistlingwoods.net/ but changed my mind at the last minute because it did not feel right. As it turns out, I was correct.

Three bombs blasted through Mumbai during rush hour, leaving at least 21 dead and 113 injured. The homemade bombs exploded within 15 minutes of each other, in a coordinated attack that targeted the busiest districts of the country's economic capital. The worst casualties were at Zaveri Bazaar, a gem and jewelry district.  There were also explosions in the Dadar neighborhood and at the Opera House business district. And so it goes.
