Queen Elizabeth II

Her Majesty Styles

I reached out to the most impressive individual I have worked with and asked for his thoughts on the passing of Queen Elizabeth III.

He is not only British but also served in her majesty’s military, was a famous BBC correspondent, a member of Parliament, and represented the United Nations as a distinguished Ambassador. This is what he sends me.

“Elizabeth our gracious Queen
Said that she needed to be seen
And so she wore the brightest hues
Of reds and yellows, greens and blues,
And matching hats and gloves and shoes:
When she retreated to her home
Our world went monochrome.”

Martin Bell, OBE

The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire is a British order of chivalry, rewarding contributions to the arts and sciences, work with charitable and welfare organizations, and public service outside the civil service. It was established on 4 June 1917 by King George V and comprised five classes across civil and military divisions, the most senior two of which make the recipient either a knight if male or dame if female. There is also the related British Empire Medal, whose recipients are affiliated with, but not members of the order.

Recommendations for appointments to the Order of the British Empire were originally made on the nomination of the United Kingdom, the self-governing Dominions of the Empire (later Commonwealth), and the Viceroy of India. Nominations continue today from Commonwealth countries that participate in recommending British (Imperial) honors. Most Commonwealth countries ceased recommendations for appointments to the Order of the British Empire when they created their own honors

As you can see and hear, Martin my friend and colleague is not only a successful author but also an accomplished poet.

He was interviewed earlier this year and discussed his experiences in conflict and the therapeutic capacity of poetry for PTSD sufferers.

The former BBC war correspondent, MP, and serviceman also gives exclusive performances of his 'soldierly poems'.

Queen Elizabeth II remained a stoic, almost timeless figure in the public's eye for 70 years ti.me/3L2G0ZL
