Please allow me to express strong opinions and reference historical events, particularly regarding the January 6th attack on the United States Capitol and the subsequent legal and political fallout. I am highlighting concerns about the actions of former President Donald Trump and his supporters, as well as the impact of these events on American democracy and international relations.
I'm invoking the words of Edward R. Murrow, a respected journalist known for his courage and integrity, to underscore the importance of holding leaders accountable and defending democratic principles. Additionally, I am emphasizing the need for citizens to speak out against actions that undermine democracy and to remain vigilant in protecting freedom and the rule of law.
The following message reflects a call to action for accountability, transparency, and civic engagement in the face of perceived threats to democratic norms and institutions. It urges individuals to confront challenges to democracy and uphold the values of justice, truth, and freedom.
Overall, my message conveys a sense of urgency and determination to confront and address the challenges facing American democracy, particularly in the aftermath of the January 6th attack and its aftermath.
A little more than three years ago on January 6, 2021, the United States Capitol Building in Washington, D.C., was attacked by a mob of Trump supporters after his resounding defeat in the 2020 presidential election and perpetrating a hoax to American voters. Since then, the self-proclaimed rich man has used other people's money to delay criminal proceedings. Several witnesses have volunteered and under oath saying they believe it in its entirety. This criminal conspiracy uses lawyers to delay court proceedings.
We The People should study the fateful words of Edward R. Murrow and replace the name Trump with McCarthy, whose attorney was also Trump’s lawyer. - No one familiar with the history of this country can deny that the January six congressional committee was useful. Also, It is necessary to investigate before legislating, but the line between investigating and circumventing our nation of laws is a very fine one and Trump and his MAGA Republicans have stepped over it repeatedly. His primary achievement has been in confusing the public mind, between internal and external threats. We must not confuse dissent with disloyalty. We must remember always that an accusation is not proof and that conviction depends upon evidence and due process of law. We will not walk in fear, one of another. We will not be driven by fear into an age of unreason, if we dig deep into our history and our doctrine, and remember that we are not descended from fearful men – not from men who feared to write, to speak, to associate, and to defend causes that were, for the moment, unpopular.
This is no time for men who oppose Trump’s methods to keep silent, or for those who approve. We can deny our heritage and our history, but we cannot escape responsibility for the result. There is no way for a citizen of a republic his responsibilities. As a nation, we have come into our full inheritance at a tender age. We proclaim ourselves, as indeed we are, the defenders of freedom, wherever it continues to exist in the world, but we cannot defend freedom abroad by deserting it at home.
The actions of this 78 year old seemingly senile criminal defendant have caused alarm and dismay amongst our allies abroad and given considerable comfort to our enemies. And whose fault is that? Not his. He didn’t create this situation of fear; he merely exploited it – and rather successfully. Cassius was right. “The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, but in ourselves. Good night and good luck.
