WHERE'S THE SUNSHINE?

Submitted by ub on

The world could use more sunshine in our lives. The sun grows lovely lower in the sky but brighter, a return of spring flowers.

We can also taste sunshine in just-picked fresh vegetables or fruits. We can see its essence in the smiles of family and friends. Also, in literature, songs, and philosophy, its meaning expands to encompass love, kindness, and the easy happiness of good times.

For music and the arts, 1969 was a fantastic year for this great nation. # the USA landed on the moon, talented musicians were flooding the radio airwaves preparing all of us for the greatest decade in music history the 70s.

This was when music and also when the golden age of Western society peaked. Of course, no one could have known that, then. Still, the '70s were amazing. I am grateful to have aged through '60-70....the peak of modern civilization. The 1970s saw the birth and growth of many styles. However, the rate and boldness of these changes can not be compared to any other time. Psych Rock, Folk, Heavy Metal, Disco, Funk, and Punk are among the genres that shaped the musical landscape of the 70s. However, you can also clearly hear the evolution of recording equipment, studio techniques, and the complexity of songwriting that allowed this to be such a decade of innovation and exploration.

There is nothing more beautiful than a rainbow. It only requires rainfall and sunshine. But When you can't find it, glow like one.

A few years earlier, singer-songwriter Sam Cooke strolled into a recording studio and laid down the tracks for one of the most important songs of the civil rights era. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wEBlaMOmKV4

Ain't no sunshine till he's gone!
