On this date in history, USA serial mass murderer Ted Bundy was executed at the Florida State Prison by the electric chair for his multiple crimes. To me, he was public enemy number one.
Theodore Ted Bundy was born in Burlington, Vermont, but he grew up with his grandparents in Philadelphia, PA. Although Bundy had a complicated childhood, to say the least, having grown up thinking his mother was his sister and his grandparents were his parents to avoid social stigma since his father was unknown and nowhere to be found.
He grew up to become one of America's most notorious serial killers. This human garbage began a reign of gruesome murders in 1974 that would span for years and end in the deaths of more than 30 young women.
As a young journalist, I covered his murder trial in Miami. When I approached his mother for comment outside the courthouse, I invertedly ta[pped her mother with my microphone, which led this enemy of the people to vow that he would kill me when he escaped from prison. Needles to say, I was able to relax once his sentence was carried out.
My main concern was for the safety of my wife and daughters because this monster had managed to escape from prison before.
