Event: Taking Twitter to the Next Level

Join the National Press Club Journalism Institute and The Poynter Institute for a forum and review of PunditFact, the fact-checking unit of the Tampa Bay Times, which published more than 350 fact-checks of pundits in 2014, from newspaper columnists to television commentators. Featured panelists include Donna Brazile, political strategist and contributor to CNN and ABC News, Kathleen Parker of the Washington Post, Jackie Kucinich of the Daily Beast and CNN Political Contributor Ana Navarro. They'll share their perspectives as columnists or commentators and how fact-checkers have influenced their work. The Deadline Club is now accepting submissions for the 2015 Deadline Club Awards. The annual contest is open to journalists in the greater New York City area and will award exceptional work published or broadcast in 2014. The deadline for entry is 11:59 p.m. on Feb. 20. Winners will then be announced at the Deadline Club Awards Dinner on May 12. The Washington D.C., Pro chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists is accepting entries for its annual Dateline Awards. Journalists in the metro D.C. area, including Maryland and Virginia, may submit work. The deadline is Feb. 27. Go to www.spjdc.org for details. Event: NAREE’s 65th Annual Real Estate Journalism Competition

The National Association of Real Estate Editors has issued a call for entries for NAREE’s 65th Annual Journalism Competition. Twenty-five categories will recognize excellence in digital, print and broadcast journalism. Winners will be announced at NAREE’s Miami journalism conference June 24-27, which will draw hundred of journalists and real estate industry speakers to Florida. NAREE’s prestigious journalism competition is open to reporters, columnists, editors and freelancers covering commercial and residential real estate and home and design. Event: Free Wharton Seminar for Business Journalists

The Wharton Seminars for Business Journalists is pleased to present a special free one-day seminar on March 4, 2015 in Washington DC. Faculty scheduled to present include Wharton Professor of Healthcare Management and Professor of Insurance and Risk Management, Scott Harrington and Professor of Business Economic and Public Policy, Kent Smetters on “The Affordable Care Act” and “Financial Regulations” respectively. The sessions are complimentary but space is limited. Breakfast, lunch and course materials are provided at no cost. A limited number of Southwest Airlines travel scholarships are also available for full-time West Coast reporters. Registration is required and available online.
