Event: Environmental Journalism 2015 Diversity Fellowships

Event: A One-Day Workshop and Pitchfest from the Society of Environmental Journalists
When: July 10, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. EDT
Where: City University of New York Graduate School of Journalism
Come explore emerging forms of environmental storytelling — online video and long-form narratives, data visualization, podcasting, social media, and more. Spend the bulk of the workshop in breakout brainstorming sessions led by expert facilitators who will help teams develop stories from inspiration to execution. Teams will then step up to the mic at a signature SEJ Pitchfest to sell their best story ideas to leading editors. Event: Cybersecurity Training for Journalists

Where: National Press Club Journalism Institute, Washington D.C.
Learn how to protect yourself and your sources from cyberhacking. The hands-on cybersecurity training series will take place on three Saturdays: June 20, June 27 and July 11. Classes will take place from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day. Tickets can be purchased for individual sessions or for all three sessions. Event: Apply for a Journalism Grant through the Fund for Environmental Journalism (FEJ)

Thanks to very generous funding, the Society of Environmental Journalists is able to commit to several times more grants in 2015 than in previous years. For the first time, applicants may include a stipend in the budget. Apply for up to $5,000. Journalists reporting on biodiversity conservation's impact on climate change, or land-use issues (both focused on North America), will be pleased to know there are currently dedicated funds for these topics. Event: The Newswomen’s Club of New York’s Front Page Awards

The Newswomen's Club of New York is accepting entries for the 2015 Front Page Awards, to be presented at a black tie gala November 12. The Front Page Awards, established in 1937-1938, are one of the few awards in the world that expressly recognize journalistic excellence by newswomen.
