The Castro brothers are the reason I've been waiting so long and the Cuban government holds the key.
We keep thinking we're near the end but really running out of time. All the time wasted and I still can't go back home.
On this date back on July 26, 1953, Fidel, Raul Castro, Huber Matos, Camilo Cienfuegos and Che Guevara led a historic revolt against Cuban dictator Fulgencio Batista with an unsuccessful attack on an army barracks in eastern Cuba. It was the beginning of the end of life as we knew it for me and my family. That fateful day was a pivotal moment which launched the infamous revolution. https://youtu.be/vM9AkeJ2Kw8
Most recently, I wrote to a Cuban government official the following email... Se le agradecerá a las autoridades civiles y militares las atenciones y garantías que otorguen al periodista Roberto Soto en el ejercicio de su misión a La Habana. Les agradeceremos el envío del formulario para solicitar el visado de prensa necesario.
Civil and military authorities will be thanked for the care and guarantees they grant to journalist Roberto Soto in the exercise of his mission to Havana. We would appreciate the sending of the form to request the necessary press visa.
I was told to enter as a Cuban citizen, and as such, I would give up my privileges and protections as a citizen of The USA. I said Thanks, but no thanks. No way...
O say, can you see, by the dawn's early light,
what so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming,
whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight,
Over the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
Over the land of the free and the home of the brave.

The entire world must learn from Castro's constant denials and attacks on his detractors and the press.
