A high-pressure system called the Bermuda High rotates clockwise, pulling warm and moist air north and a cause extended heat waves along the east coast of the North Atlantic.
A combination of hotter temperatures along with the humidity is going to raise the heat index to near 100 degrees for the next few days. Therefore, a heat advisory has been issued for much of the NY-NJ-CT tri-sate area.
The heatwave could last for at least 3 days and only the coast will be able to escape the worst of it. The wind off the ocean may make it about 5 to 10 degrees lower but the humidity will be just as oppressive.

Eastern Union-Orange-Putnam-Rockland-Northern Westchester
Southern Westchester-Northern Nassau-Southern Nassau
New York (Manhattan)-Bronx-Richmond (Staten Island)
Kings (Brooklyn)-Northern Queens-Southern Queens
Ulster-Western Dutchess
