THE BEST THINGS IN LIFE ARE FREE

Submitted by ub on

Back in the early days, when most Americans were on a very tight budget. Oftentimes, New Yorkers would venture down to Battery Park on a hot summer night and ride the Staten Island Ferry for entertainment. In those days it cost a few cents. Today, it is actually free. If you ask, you will find that some New Yorkers have wonderful memories of buying standing room tickets for various shows. I seem to recall seeing one of these shows and it is to this day, one of my many marvelous memories.

When I first moved to this city, I also, was on a tight budget. I guess some things never change. Anyway, I had to walk everywhere. And, one of my favorite things to do on a hot summer day was to visit Central Park.

Since then I have also discovered Prospect Park and my personal favorite, Pelham Bay Park.

These are delightful places to enjoy free activities like walking and playing games. When I first started playing in the park, it was free of charge and it is still free today... Amazing!
