It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in New York City which always has a different look, but this year it has another feel altogether.
Tonight, The Big Apple sights will be focused on the 88th Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree lighting ceremony. While this tree lighting event usually draws huge crowds, the ceremony tonight will be closed to the public because of the COVID19 global pandemic.
NBC TV annual spectacular “Christmas in Rockefeller Center," featuring the tree lighting, will still air live tonight at 8P EST and delayed PST. During the special, television viewers will see performances by Kelly Clarkson, Jimmy Fallon, Brett Eldredge, Goo Goo Dolls, Tori Kelly, Leslie Odom Jr., Pentatonix, Earth, Wind & Fire, Dolly Parton, Gwen Stefani and Meghan Trainor to name a few.
The 75 foot tall Norway Spruce arrived from upstate bearing a live surprise for the annual tree lighting tonight. However, remember that because of the Corona virus, the spectacular will be closed to the public this year, and Rockefeller Center has provided tree viewing protocols which will be in effect following the lighting.
