CHILDLESS PARENTS / PARENTLESS CHILDREN

Submitted by ub on

Now that Mothers Day is behind US and Fathers Day is approaching, it is fitting that we bring up this problem, which afflicts sons and daughters worldwide, because one is way too many, as far as we're concerned.

It's been years since they last spoke with their parents. They may never speak to them ever again.

There is no other way to say that it is wrong, when a child is estranged from a parent. It's even harder to fathom that they've cut off, or have been eliminated from each others lives.

No clarification necessary, whether one party or the other has severed the bond. It is wrong in any language and every culture that we know of.

Just try saying it to anyone you meet, friend or foe, colleague or stranger and a certain light you hadn't even noticed fades from everyone's eyes you share this with. It never fails and it happens each and every time. Smiles fade, falter, or just grow fake and forced.

Parents give so much to their children that we could never fathom a justification for developing this type of non relationship. The thought of estrangement is staggering.

Could it possibly be an unbelievably monstrous abuse, which outweighs all the love and self-sacrifice inherent in parenting? Do you know of anyone with these symptoms?

Only someone selfish and heartless who would cut off a child who loves them? Right, or wrong?
