If these names can easily be changed from the Golf of Mexico and from Long island Sound, let’s also do it today for Pelham Bay.
Pelham Bay refers to a body of water on the shores of City Island - A Slice of NYC Paradise in The Bronx. It is also known as Pelham Bay Sound, located between Orchard Beach and City Island.
Does this sound okay, but It's not really a bay, but a sound because it opens into larger bodies of water at both ends. From 1934–1938, about one-third of the original bay was filled in to create our beloved Orchard Beach, which is now being renovated.
What about City Island Sound? Then we can go on to change the name to City Island Park and City Island Beach, so on and so forth.
