City Island Corona

Submitted by ub on

The first COVID vaccines have been distributed and to Americans living in the USA as our nation surpasses 300,000 deaths and The Electoral College votes to certify President-elect Jo Biden's victory and make Lame-duck Donald an official loser.

We all hope and pray everyone is careful and stays well during these trying times. It is a sad milestone as we have officially lost all the lives to this pandemic as it significantly spread to a slice of NYC Paradise.

These are not just numbers-the casualties are grandparents, parents, siblings, children, spouses, sisters, brothers, and friends that can’t even be mourned or properly buried.

Public health officials now fear that the next six months will see the worst deaths of this global pandemic right here in the USA.

As we move ahead and while the recovery is still a long way away, let’s pause and remember all of the victims.

For four days, NYC councilman Mark Gjonaj made arrangements for City Island clam diggers and mussel suckers to be tested for Coronavirus.

The councilman also made arrangements to give away food for the needy. Essen Health Care mobile van provided free COVID-19 tests at Hawkins Park on City Island Avenue.

We spoke with two business owners and they had opposite viewpoints. Ros was glad to see the testing services be made available come on the island. Rut says the decision was a bad one and the truck should have been parked out of the way at the Orchard Beach parking lot.
