Defense As Offense

Submitted by ub on

It is said the best defense is a good offense, an adage applied to many fields of endeavor, including games and military combat. This is also known as the strategic offensive principle of politics, as Trump and his followers have so clearly outlined.

However, the real takeawy should have been the learning moment provided for the benefit of all Americans on all political sides.
As the father of two daughters and four granddaughters, I ask anyone who supports Judge Kavanaugh following Dr. Ford’s testimony, are the experiences of women who are subjected to these acts not important? Does their trauma not matter? Shouldn’t their real stories in their own voices be believed?

Yesterday, we watched SCOTUS candidate Brett Kavanaugh go from fighting back tears during his opening remarks to interrupting, talking back and fighting with female Senators who were questioning him.

The US Senate Judiciary Committee today voted 11-10 to move the Supreme Court nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh out of committee.

However, Senator Jeff Flake (R-AZ) only cast the deciding “aye” vote after negotiations with Democrats to delay the floor vote on this nomination for up to a week, giving the Federal Bureau of Investigation time to probe the sexual assault allegations against Judge Kavanaugh.

At that time, Senate Republican leadership and the Trump Administration had not yet agreed to Senator Flake’s request. Senator Flake could vote “no” in the full Senate on moving forward with the nomination. The FBI has now been instructed to proceed with what the president insisted was not within their investigative activities. What does Mark Judge know about Brett Kavanaugh? The FBI could be about to find out http://bit.ly/2OlTXHf
