The Grand Old Party is at the edge of a political precipice for the first time since it was founded in 1854 by opponents of the Kansas–Nebraska Act, which allowed for the potential expansion of chattel slavery into the western territories. 

Republicans members of the US House of Representatives pulled out of another key select committee in a sign of the fallout among House GOP over less than half theorems recommended members being vetoed from the panel investigating the riot on January 6 leading to an insurrection and act of sedition.

Today a House select committee heard testimony from four law enforcement officers, who were attacked as they defended the U.S. Capitol from armed supporters of President Donald Trump. At the Justice Department, other Republicans were calling those same terrorists who attacked the US Capitol political prisoners and demanded their release. Why do Republicans continue to attack the cops who saved their lives, so they can defend a former president who put them in danger?
