What do you think would happen if couples on City Island, or anywhere else got along as poorly as these so called Democrats and Republicans? Our divorce courts would be jammed with battling individuals.
Well, if these two groups do not learn how to get along soon and the U.S. government defaults, we the people, the registered voters of this great country may have solid grounds for divorce, with irreconcilable differences.
Initially, we thought an actual default was unlikely and that Congress and President Obama would find some points of agreement to raise the debt ceiling. But with the Senate and the House still unable to work this out, default doesn't seem quite so implausible any more.
If the opposite of progress is defined as congress, then I suggest the government stop paying the salaries of all politicians until this mess is resolved. No if hands or political butt heads.
