GLOBAL LIFE EXPECTANCY

The United Nations estimates a global average life expectancy of 72.6 years for 2019 – the global average today is higher than in any country back in 1950. According to the UN estimates the country with the best health in 1950 was Norway with a life expectancy of 72.3 years.

In fact, only a handful of countries have life expectancies greater than 80 years. At the helm of the countries with the longest life expectancy is Japan, followed by Switzerland and Spain, which all have average life expectancies of greater than 80 years.

On the other hand, Chad has the lowest life expectancy in the world at an average lifespan of 50.6 years. The life expectancy in this nation is so low because it has one of the highest rates of maternal mortality and high infant mortality as well.USAID has several programs to help those living in Chad.

However the worldwide life expectancy, before COVID, was 78.7 years, and the current life expectancy for World in 2021 is 72.81 years, a 0.24% increase from 2020. The life expectancy for World in 2020 was 72.63 years, a 0.24% increase from 2019. Feb 12, 2021.
