Holy Week completes the final days of Lent. The 40 day penitential season is observed in preparation for Easter Sunday, which commemorates the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Tuesday, March 31st
Chrism Mass
Cardinal Dolan will celebrate the Chrism Mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral (5th Avenue and 51st Street) at 4:00 pm. During the Chrism Mass the archbishop is joined by priests of the archdiocese and blesses the holy oils which are used in the administration of the sacraments throughout the archdiocese for the year.

Thursday, April 2: Holy Thursday
Food Pantry Visit
Cardinal Dolan will visit the Washington Heights Ecumenical Food Pantry (4111 Broadway and 173rd St), a Catholic Charities food program that serves the Washington Heights community.

Mass of the Lord’s Supper
Cardinal Dolan will celebrate Holy Thursday Mass at 5:30 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Cathedral.

Friday, April 3: Good Friday
12 Noon: Meditations on the Seven Last Words of Christ
Fr. James Martin, a Jesuit priest, and author and editor at large at America magazine, will deliver a meditation at St. Patrick’s Cathedral on the Seven Last Words that Christ said before his death on the Cross. Cardinal Dolan will preside.

Afternoon: Solemn Liturgy of the Lord’s Passion and Death
Cardinal Dolan will celebrate the Liturgy of the Lord’s Passion and Death at 3:30 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Cathedral.

Saturday, April 4: Holy Saturday
Morning: Blessing of Food
Cardinal Dolan will attend the traditional blessing of the food for Easter Sunday breakfast at St. Casimir parish in Yonkers (239 Nepperhan Avenue) at 11:00 a.m.

Evening: Easter Vigil Mass
Cardinal Dolan will celebrate the Easter Vigil Mass at 8:00 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Cathedral.

Sunday, April 5: Easter Sunday
Cardinal Dolan will celebrate Easter Sunday Mass at 10:15 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Cathedral.
