It's a bunch of hot air, and it's dangerous to humans and animals alike. The combination of high temperatures and high humidity is causing excessive heat advisories and warnings in Chicago and St. Louis as forecasters warned of blistering heat in northern tier states spreading to the East Coast. Forecasters say a large mass of hot and humid air moving to the Eastern Seaboard including New England and the Mid-Atlantic, setting up a potentially record-breaking day of high temperatures.
The Big Apple is also set for hottest day of the year so far as the temperatures soar. The forecast is hot, so very hot — time to hitch a ride to Orchard Beach. The beach was created by Robert Moses in the 1930's. The Bronx's only public beach and spans 1.1 miles and 115 acres. The beach's 26 sporting courts are popular once your time on the sand is up.
New York's weather the next few days may feel worse than any other time this summer, scalding, sweltering and sticky. Some subway stations will be virtual saunas, and streets are no place for bare feet.
