Representatives of North and South Korea met today in the Demilitarized Zone for the first talks between the nations in two years.
A military hotline between the two nations was suspended for nearly two years and will now be reinstated.
North Korea says it will send a delegation to next month's Winter Olympics in South Korea, a diplomatic breakthrough between the two countries after months of rising tensions over the North's missile and nuclear weapons programs.
South Korean officials said the delegation will consist of athletes, a cheering squad, and high-ranking officials.
South Korea also proposed holding military talks with the North and the rival Koreas agreed to reopen a military hotline, suspended two years ago.
