St. Paul’s Church National Historic Site Memorial Day Commemorations Monday, May 25, 2015, 9 AM to 5 PM

There will be periodic tours throughout the day -- depending on visitors interest and staff availability -- telling the stories of soldiers buried in the historic cemetery, and placing flags and flowers at their graves. Living history demonstrations by the 52nd New York Volunteers, Civil War re-enactor unit, on the Green.

Scheduled Events:
11 AM A commemorative ceremony in the church, followed by placing a wreath on the Green in honor of all the soldiers buried at St. Paul’s, and a re-dedication of the preserved gravestone of Sergeant Harmon Bloodgood, who served in the Civil War with the Third United States Cavalry. Soldiers serving with the modern Third Cavalry will participate. (Interpretive tour of the cemetery, visiting soldiers’ graves, follows immediately.)

12:30 PM In the museum, a performance, and sing-along, of songs that soldiers would have sung and heard from the Revolutionary War through World War II.

2:30 PM In the museum, Paul Gettler, who teaches history at Norwalk Community College, explores the context of the 60th anniversary of the end of World War II.
