Political Refugees Unite

The empathy many political refugees from Cuba, Vietnam, and other Americans feel toward Afghan refugees evokes them to action.

The political refugees cry for freedom acknowledging that t is a jungle out there. As a child of parents who left everything behind for freedom, liberty, and to participate in the American democratic process, I feel for any and all fellow refugees who find themselves in a similar predicament. The images online are alarming, but we can't verify all of them.

Nobody else knows what it is like to live the life of a human being who has been forced to leave their country in order to escape war, persecution, or natural disaster. There are an increasing amount who fled their homes, for various reasons just like all the immigrants who make up an amazing USA salad and the American melting pot we all enjoy today.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees is a UN agency mandated to aid and protect refugees, forcibly displaced communities, and stateless people, and to assist in their voluntary repatriation, local integration or resettlement to a third country.

UNHCR was established on 14 December 1950 and succeeded the earlier United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration. The agency is mandated to lead and co-ordinate international action to protect refugees other than Palestinian refugees, who are assisted by UNRWA and resolve refugee problems worldwide. Its primary purpose is to safeguard the rights and well-being of refugees. It strives to ensure that everyone can exercise the right to seek asylum and find safe refuge in another state, with the option to return home voluntarily, integrate locally or to resettle in a third country.

Will Christians welcome Afghanistan's refugees?
