The Poor People's March on Washington is reigniting after all these years and it needs everyone's tender loving care. It began as a 1968 effort to gain economic justice for poor people in the USA.
It was organized by Martin Luther King, Jr. and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, and carried out under the leadership of Ralph Abernathy in the wake of King's assassination.
Clergy members, community activists, people of different backgrounds and economic status come together to continue the work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
This commitment is needed from all leaders interested in taking up MLK’s mantle. He demonstrated the difficulty and necessity of uniting the poor and dispossessed across race, religion, geography and other lines that divide.
