Former presidents can be investigated for allegations including coercing political activity by federal employees or inciting insurrection.
Any president who has committed such crimes must be prosecuted if American voters do not want those crimes to be repeated by any future president or their representatives.

The Justice Department could appoint a special prosecutor independent of political considerations. That individual should then follow the facts where they may take them because nobody is above the law. US Congressman Bennie Thompson, who chairs the January 6 Committee, is considering bringing all involved top to bottom before Congress to testify PUBLICLY.
Our Republic needs to be saved, and it appears that The Democrats will have to be ones who must do it. America is in a political and constitutional crisis, and in the future there may be incidents of mass violence, a breakdown of federal authority, and the division of the country into warring red and blue states. The warning signs may not be clear because of the global pandemic, the economy and international crises, or perhaps by denial.
The takeaway seems to be clear. Itis between those who believe democracy is worth saving or to allow it to slip away.
