City Images mourns the passing of former NYC Council Member Madeline Provenzano. Madeline was The Bronx district's first female Council Member. She was kind, passionate, independently fierce, and cared deeply about The Bronx, NYC.
I first met Madeline Provenzano when I moved to City Island to launch News 12 The Bronx and her friendship, insights, help and advice were always appreciated. May God bless her family during this difficult time.
Madeline Provenzano was a Democrat and former chief-of-staff to her predecessor, Councilman Michael DeMarco. M. Provenzano was first elected in 1997, representing District 13. She was re-elected in 2001 and again in 2003 after NYC Council boundaries were redrawn). In 2005, Provenzano was not able to seek another term because of New York City's term limits law which were amended in 2009.
