Here's a beautiful love story for the holiday season, while my daughter is about to marry her partner, Nate, and celebrate her birthday.
Also, this inspirational story is for all of you when we need it the most. This amazing image of the oldest married couple above, now aged 108 and 107 respectively, with a combined age of 216 years, was married on June 4, 1942, and has recently been recognized by LongeviQuest as both the oldest living married couple and the oldest married couple ever, according to Guinness World Records.
These lovebirds first met as students at Clark Atlanta University in 1941, when Lyle was on the college basketball team and Eleanor attended one of his games.
According to Guinness World Records, shortly after their wedding in 1942, Lyle was deployed to Italy with the 92nd Infantry Division during World War II, while Eleanor, already pregnant with their first child, moved to New York City and worked in payroll for an aircraft parts company
Guinness World Records says that after being separated for two years during the war, they reunited and built their lives together in New York City, raising three children and both working in government service. Eleanor even earned her doctorate in Urban Education from Fordham University at age 69, LongeviQuest.
When asked about the secret to their remarkable 83-year marriage, their answer is beautifully simple: "We love each other," Guinness World Records Eleanor said, with Lyle adding, "I love my wife." They now live in Miami near their daughter Angela, where they continue to enjoy their time together.
