Trinity United Methodist Church on City Island once again hosted its annual Thanksgiving Service, followed by a traditional Thanksgiving Feast for all the huddled masses, which included an eclectic mix of individuals, who gathered to give thanks and to celebrate.
This year's dinner was donated by Sammy's Restaurant. Pastor Ezra Yew told City Images that Sammy Chernin and his wife Lauren generously agreed to donate this year's Thanksgiving traditional meal for over one hundred guests. He also took time to thank all volunteers who served the guests in the full spirit of God on Thanksgiving Day. There was also music and Thanksgiving prayers.
Sammy Chernin is the most influential businessman on City Island and the proud owner of five restaurants including Sammy’s Fish Box, Sammy’s Shrimp Box, and the Seashore Restaurant on City Island. Sammy has been in the restaurant business for 40 years and started on City Island, while working in his uncle and aunt’s diner-style restaurant when he was a teenager.
