Queen's Native Son Walter Becker died at 67 on September 3, 2017. He was the force behind Steely Dan. This was posted by his child http://www.walterbecker.com/daughters.html RIP WP

Becker will soon be honored in Forest Hills, NY with a Street naming on 11/28 on the corner of 112th Street and 72nd Drive where Walter grew up and will be co-named in his honor to Walter Becker Way.

As the Founding Father of #SteelyDan, the group was inducted in #RRHF http://rockhall.com #Becker left NY, LA on his way to Maui https://youtu.be/HV3zWSawJiw

One of Steely Dan's most notable songs was later adopted by my late friend and dear colleague, who I had the pleasure of working with at NBC. His name was George Taylor Morris, who was born on the other side of the country, in California.

In 1979 we were both hired at NBC. He as a news anchor and I was a writer-producer to launch a fledgling NBC young adult network, The Source, where he did national reporting during the Iran hostage crisis and the 1980 presidential elections. In 1981, Morris went on to serve as the first entertainment program director for The Source, where he developed a successful series of radio interview programs and a live concert series from venues around the U.S. I moved on to field produce for local and network TV news programs.

George went on to work for Satellite Radio, and among his notable productions, he launched an award-winning series with the same name https://youtu.be/_bwHK1xkgJA RIP GTM https://www.digitalradiocentral.com/threads/george-taylor-morris-of-dee…

Interestingly enough, both men died early in their life of throat cancer. Both were cremated, as they had wished. And as far as I am concerned, I will remember his long and winding road of goodwill way as GTM's special street naming this day.
