After I grew older and as an adult became an American citizen and decided to have no political affiliation, I wondered how long it would take to see Cuban representation on Congress.
First there was Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, a Republican US Representative of Florida's 27th congressional district (1989–2019). She was the first Cuban-American and the first Latina elected to Congress. Since she retired there have been all of these and none of them make me proud for various reasons. Some are Trump supporters, while others managed to be investigated for other alleged wrongdoing.
