DAY OF DEAD

El Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a day of celebration, particularly for the people in Mexico and Central America, and for many Mexican Americans in the United States. It is a day to honor and commemorate the lives of the dearly departed and to welcome the return of their spirits.

As we all gear up for #Halloween, remember it's not just about the costume but the memories we create! And while on the topic of memories, let's groove to some fun facts about Selena's "La Carcacha"! 🎶

1️⃣ "La Carcacha" is a testament to Selena's early rise in Tejano music during the '90s.
2️⃣ Ever wonder about the title? "Carcacha" translates to an old, clunker car. The song celebrates authentic love over materialism.
3️⃣ It's a rhythmic blend of cumbia and Tejano, highlighting Selena's dynamic voice and range.
4️⃣ Its music video is a time capsule of the '90s and captures Selena's iconic style and dance flair.
5️⃣ Beyond the upbeat tune, it imparts a deep message about valuing genuine connections over appearances.

The tradition of the Day of the Dead is rooted in Indigenous and Spanish Catholic ritual customs. Today, this celebration has been increasingly popular among Latinos in the United States. Though many of the traditional elements have remained, the way and where the Day of the Dead is celebrated has changed. However, the unity of life and death continues to be the dominant theme of the art, tradition, and rituals of the annual celebration of the Day of the Dead on Nov. 2, both in Mexico and the United States.  https://latino.si.edu/learn/teaching-and-learning-resources/day-dead-re…
